This is Harry's third year at Hogwarts school. Basically Harry runs away from his uncle's house after his aunt marge visits and pokes fun at harry's parents so harry blows her up. after he gabs his stuff and dashes out the door, harry realizes there is nowhere to go, so he sits on down on the ground while two things happen. First thing is that a dog appears out of the bushes, second thing is that the Knight Bus(for stranded witch or wizard) appears out of thin air. harry gets on and goes to the leaky couldron and realizes when he he gets Corneilus Fudge in the minstry of magic has been waiting for him. during harry's stay there he runs into ron and hermione. aurthur weasley pulls harry aside and says that there is a killer on the loose named sirius black. now when september comes harry, hermione and ron encounter dementors on their train but harry is the only one that has a reaction to it. everyone else just feels that they will never be cheerful again. word gets around in school, and dumbledore tells everyone that the dementors are staioned at hogwarts in case sirius black shows up. besides that, hagrid is announced the new care of magical creatures teacher and professor lupin is announced as the defense against the dark arts teacher. In care of magical creatures, hagrind introduces the class to a hippogriff named buckbeat which harry gets to ride, but malfoy gets attacked by it. In defense against the dark arts, lupin introduces boggarts to the class which they turn to the most fearful things that person fears. The good thing about being a third year is that their aloud to go to the village of hogsmeade with a signed permission form from their parents. well harry finds himself the only one so he hangs with lupin and discovers that lupin and harry's mother and father(james and lily) used to be friends and go to school together. the next trip to hogsmeade is coming up harry decides to use his invisibility cloak to sneak into the village. well fred and george catch harry and instead gave him the mauders map which shows everything and everyone in hogwarts. so harry uses it to sneak out and find ron and hermione. when he does find them he hears some of the teachers talk about sirius black and then pulls out his invisibility cloak to sneak in and listen. well they said that sirius killed alot of people, but was james and lily's friend but ratted them out to voldemort. A few days later hagrid tells harry, hermione and ron that buckbeat is sentenced to death thanks to malfoy. so the day of the execution all three went down to be with hagrid once it was over ron's rat scabbers ran off. ron chased him under the whomping willow tree, then before harry knows it there's a dog that dragging ron in hole under the tree. harry and hermione try to save ron but the dog was acually an aninagus( people that can turn into something else) which was sirius black. not to long snape and lupin appeared. harry attacked snape, and realized lupin, james, and sirius's old friend peter petigrew acually betrayed the potters. peter petigrew deguised himself as a ron's rat. they all did. james was prongs, sirius was padfoot, lupin was moony the werewolf, and peter was wormtail. As they were trying to get back to hogwarts the full moon came out and made lupin turn into a werewolf. all of a sudden he ran in the other direction after hearing another werewolf call. harry ran after sirius who was suddenly surrounded by dementors. but someone, somewhere formed a patronas to block away all the dementors. when harry woke up he was in the hospital wing and dumbledore was there. apparently they took sirius and him uptill the dementors can have him. dumbledore told hermione she could go back and save two lives then he left. so hermione pulled out her necklace which was really a necklace where u can change time and go back. so they went back and saved buckbeat and sirius but not before sirius told harry he was his godfather. at the end harry received a box from sirius which was a broom stick since his other one broke in a quidditch match. not only that but he signed his permission form to go to hogsmeade.
